Fighting Climate Change with Rural Communities
In December 2016 ZWB joined forc- es with rural communities to plant trees in the 4 districts of Gokwe, Kwekwe/Zhombe, Gweru and Mutare, In these districts where Zimbabwe Women’s Bureau (ZWB) is imple- menting the Enterprise and Business Development Programme (EBDP) pro- gramme participants are engaged in various practices that are meant to combat the problem of climate change.
In December 2016, a total of 100 trees were planted in the 4 dis- tricts. In Gokwe trees were planted at Ndhlalambi Primary School, in Zhombe at Totororo Primary School, in Gweru at Chikumbiro Primary School and in Mutare at Odzi Town- ship. The tree planting commemora- tions were held under the theme, “Agro-forestry for climate change resilience and food security.”
