Chapter 12 Institutions Interface with ICBTs
Information for Women’s Voices (I4WV) project is one of Zimbabwe Women’s Bureau’s flagship pro-grammes aimed at empowering wom-en in the informal cross border trade with relevant information.
It seeks to ensure that women informal cross border traders are better equipped to claim their rights as they ply their trade.
ZWB facilitated an engagement with Chapter 12 Commissions a platform for demystifying their mandate to the informal cross border traders on 4 November 2020 in Harare.
The Chapter 12 institutions interface workshop had a total of 100 partici-
pants drawn from Masvingo, Seke, Mutare, Harare, Gweru, Hatcliffe and Manyame covering the some ICBTs districts. Stakeholders from the Minis-try of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Devel-opment, Women Alliance of Business Associations in Zimbabwe (WABAZ), Zimbabwe Cross Border Traders As-sociation (ZCBTA) and Zimbabwe Chamber of Informal Economy Associ-ations (ZCIEA), the Independent com-missions and other organisations pro-moting women’s livelihoods projects were also present.
A number of challenges faced by women were identified chief among them is lack of clarity on tax rebates, quantities of allowable goods and in-cessant forms of Gender-Based Vio-lence (GBV) experiences.
